30 Our Lady of Lourdes Watercolor Paintings - Saint Bernadette Catholic Wall Art, Lourdes 1858 Apparitions, February 11
Tell the whole story of Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Bernadette Soubirous, scene by scene and in order, with this collection of 30 soft watercolor paintings set in the Pyrenees town of Lourdes in 1858. It begins with the poor Soubirous family in the old prison cell called the cachot and Bernadette as a little shepherdess at Bartrès. On 11 February 1858, gathering wood by the Gave river, she sees the beautiful Lady in the grotto of Massabielle. The paintings follow the eighteen apparitions: the holy water, the Lady's gentle "Would you be so kind", the growing crowds and the police commissioner, the call to penance, the hidden spring, Abbé Peyramale, the words "I am the Immaculate Conception", the candle miracle and the first healings. The story continues with Bernadette's First Communion, her school years with the Sisters of Nevers, her farewell to the grotto, her life as Sister Marie-Bernard, her illness and her incorrupt body, and ends with Lourdes in later years: the candlelight procession below the new Basilica on the rock, the sick at the grotto, and portraits of Our Lady and Saint Bernadette. Bernadette looks the same in every painting, with her white capulet hood, and so does Our Lady, in a white dress with a blue sash, a rosary and golden roses on her feet. Every scene is painted with tenderness in pastel colors on a cream paper background.
